FAQS

Why was the 2019 NZ Tattoo postponed?

A decision was made to postpone the April 2019 NZ Tattoo following the March 2019 terrorist attack in Christchurch. It was determined that hosting an event of this nature featuring military gunfire and explosions, so close to such a traumatic event was inappropriate. Additionally, there were hightened security concerns surrounding events and festivals throughout the country at that time.

The new date of 4 April 2020 will honour New Zealand’s Defence Force heroes. Significant consideration was given to the timing of the postponement and we have the full support and commitment from the Chief of Defence Force to proceed with our planned 2020 NZ Tattoo.

Were refunds provided for the 2019 show?

Ticketholders were offered a full refund through Ticket Direct.

Why is the 2020 show one night, when it was previously two nights?

Feedback from performers, the community and prior ticket sales all indicated strong support for a Saturday night performance, so we have condensed the show to a single night.

When do 2020 NZ Tattoo tickets go on sale?

All previous ticket purchasers to the 2019 NZ Tattoo will have an exclusive priority access period to purchase equivalent tickets for the 2020 NZ Tattoo from 16 – 30 September 2019. The public release date is 1 October 2020.
