NEW ZEALAND TATTOO POSTPONED
For more information please call Palmerston North City Council +64 6 356 8199.
All ticket holders will receive a full refund. You can arrange this by emailing email@example.com with your customer details.
We regret to advise that, following careful consideration, a decision has been made to postpone the New Zealand Tattoo.
While the Tattoo was to feature a large number of New Zealand’s top pipe and brass bands and kapa haka, a significant part of the event was to feature military displays that included firearms and explosives.
Following the recent events in Christchurch, Palmerston North City Council considers it would be inappropriate to host an event of this nature.
We regret the inconvenience or disappointment this brings for those who have already purchased tickets, but we are confident they will support our view that this is the right thing to do.
Keep an eye on this page for updates.

Why has the event been postponed?
Council is mindful that members of our community may be struggling in the aftermath of the Christchurch attacks and has decided to postpone the Tattoo as a result.
While the Tattoo was to feature a large number of New Zealand’s top pipe and brass bands and kapa haka, a large portion of the event included military displays featuring explosives, firearms and aircraft. The noise, vibrations and sight will carry outside the arena. This could be upsetting or distressing to some and we want to ensure everyone feels safe in our city.
Is there a new planned date for the event?
No new date has been confirmed yet. We hope to update you soon about a new date for the event.
Can I hold my ticket for the new date?
As it may be some time before a new date is confirmed, we recommend that all ticketholders claim a refund now. This way, you’ll avoid going through this process once the new date has been announced and you are unable to attend.
Current ticket holders will be given pre-sale priority when tickets become available.
Why do we have to go through the refund process?
Currently, all funds from purchases are being held in trust by Ticketdirect, as the ticketing company. Because a new date is yet to be confirmed, we find it appropriate to refund all purchases to clear Ticketdirect of any funds.
How do I get a refund for my tickets? Will I get a full refund?
We will provide full refunds to ticket purchases, including any booking fees.
Ticket refunds can be arranged by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the following customer details:
· Full name
· Email address
· Phone number
· Ticket details
· Bank details (if ticket was purchased via EFTPOS or cash)
We will start processing your refund request as soon as you supply these details to us.
How will my money be refunded?
Those who have purchased online or through the call centre will be refunded to the card used when purchasing. If that card has expired, a refund can be arranged to a nominated bank account. Ticketdirect will assist with any queries and necessary arrangements.
Those who have purchased via EFTPOS or cash through an outlet will need to provide their bank details. We will credit the refund to your nominated bank account.
Only people who have purchased tickets can receive a refund, complimentary tickets will not be refunded.
What if I have won my ticket?
We will honour and re-send complimentary tickets once a new date has been confirmed.
When will my refund appear?
Please allow up to 21 days for your refund to be processed and cleared.
Can I get cover for the loss of my travel and accommodation?
We hope people understand the reason behind the cancellation and regret that this may cause some loss or inconvenience. You may like to ask your travel or accommodation provider to take the reason behind the postponement into consideration.
Will we be first to know about the new event date?
Current ticket holders will be given pre-sale priority when tickets become available. We cannot guarantee that you will get the same seating but we will do our best to get you seated in the same area.
We will be in touch with you via email. Rest assured that we will give you ample time to repurchase tickets before we go on sale to the general public.
Will the content of the replacement show be the same?
We will be reviewing the content of the show and will take into consideration the sensitivities of community around the time of the postponement date.
Could the show have continued without the use of the sensitive content?
With only three weeks until the show was being held, there was not enough time to change the content as quite a large portion of the show included content that now needs to be reviewed.
